Lynne Strover ran the Lynne Strover Gallery in Fen Ditton for 27 years working hard to promote and sell contemporary paintings, sculpture and ceramics from artists whose work she admired.
In the early days work was confined to local artists but once I had discovered the wealth of artists living in the Cornish West Peninsular names like Rose Hilton, Breon O’Casey, Kurt Jackson began to feature in my exhibitions.
St Ives was the place she most loved and the opening of Tate St Ives compelled her to buy a small flat in Downalong, a part of old St Ives and a stones throw away from the Tate. For the best part of twenty years Lynne divided her life between St Ives and Cambridge but recently decided it was time for a change and so, with the sale of her flat came the decision to sell the gallery, move into the centre of Cambridge and begin a new phase in her life. A small house in CB1 is now home and she is busy planning ways to carry on promoting art whilst leaving time for her jewellery making.
